Hi

Does anyone take this drug? I saw my consultant today, who suggested stopping hydroxy & starting this one instead. I take cimzia which seemed to be working but my elbows are bad again. My MRI scan shows there is a lot of inflammation, I asked my consultant if that also meant they were damaged but he didn't really answer. Am I being stupid, or does that mean there is damage to the elbows?

Really fed up of RA!!!! Sad Sorry we all are aren't we Sad

Louise, I have not heard of this drug. You are not being stupid by the way.....some consultants minimise things because they don't want us worrying rather than treat us as partners in our care and be straight with us so it's no wonder we get confused. I would guess though that inflammation could be temporary rather than signify damage. I think you need to ask the rheumie for an honest straight answer next time you're seen. I hope someone else can help regarding the drug. Naomi, X

Hi Louise - sorry to hear that your elbows are bad. I've woken up today, and mine won't straighten properly - they don't exactly hurt, but ache when I try to straighten them - ho hum, blasted RA!

Anyway, re inflammation and damage - it doesn't necessarily mean that there's actual damage, and the const should be able to see from your scan. Maybe you could ask again for a more explicit answer. I agree with Naomi that the const should be more honest - knowledge helps us care for ourselves better than hiding facts so we don't worry.
